I just remembered my Holga...

My fantastic sis F got me a Holga camera for my going away present 10 months ago. I had been banging on about it for aaaaages. There is something about the idea of film and the idea that even if you're the best photographer in the world the Holga still has a mind of it's own. I trawled through Flickr photos, I read and re-read the website and I was convinced that this might be the thing for me. I can't wait to find out. F wanted me to take a photo for every day that I was away, but film is a little on the 'out of my budget' side and so I resorted to carrying it everywhere with me and then as I feel the inspiration. I must admit, though, I have really not done that much in Canada but I have in Croatia, Hungary, Ireland and the places along the way. I can't wait to see how they turn out. It will take me some time before I print the photos so remind me later when I forget to show'n'tell. Here are some that I got from the Offical Holga Site

I just looove the colours and there is so many interesting things to look at in each photo.

Ornamental Lettering

I'm looking for a 'z' and an 's' in ornamental lettering like this one that I found at thingstolookat.blogspot.com

I love typefaces, thanks to my brother, and I'm thinking of getting a tattoo which involves lovely letters and I would just love to find an amazing 'z' out of ornamental lettering. I'll keep looking and keep you posted.

Snow makes everything pretty...

I'm doing a season in the snow. It's amazing, when it comes (and it took it's damn time here in Fernie, BC, Canada) it comes and it makes everything really pretty. I was going to show you some of my photos but my devices are incompatible with this crappy computer so here are some I found on Flicker that I really love (thankyou photographers):

I'll get some j originals up real soon. Promise.

For now I wanted to tell you why I called my blog One for you, one for me. They have the best Salvo's in Fernie, anything we need we get, plus more. I feel like I want to give back and since I have started knitting here for everyone, I thought from now one I will knit one beanie (or toque as those crazy Canadians call them) for me (or whoever requests one) and one beanie for the Salvo's. It's so damn cold here everyone could do with a beanie.

This photo came from here on Flickr uploaded by lapsklaus. Nice work tiger. Hopefully my beanies are as good as his.

For now, it's back to knitting.

A few little things that started it all.

So, hi, how are ya? Nice to meet you all in Blog land, finally. I've a confession, I've been a lurker for waaaayyy to long now. But I love you all even if my comments have been limited, you must believe me my admiration for you all has been immense.

I thought for the start of my blog I would pay homage to all those that have inspired me so far and basically set my life on this new course; a blogging course.

The one that started it all:

Meet Me At Mikes
Without a doubt the only thing that got me through my last job was the email updates everyday from the lovely Pip at MMAM. Yes, everyday. Much Love.

Totally as a result of stalking Meet Me At Mikes for soooo long here are a few other blogs that I adore:
Assorted Notions
Burda Style
Weekend Designer

I'll add more as we go on, don't want to give away all my treats at once!

Finally there are things you should know about me that will make us best buddies for life.
1. I love sewing and knitting.
2. I am addicted to facebook
3. I am a really bad baker. Savory I can do, the sweet stuff I suck at.
4. I love snowboarding and the powder at Fernie this season.
5. I will try anything.
6. I cry at really cheesy movie moments (i.e The Goonies)
7. I love random gifts either given or received for no reason at all.
8. I can't spell real good.
9. I have a twin sister. Being a twin is awesome.
10. Sometimes I run out of words and don't know what to say.
