Blueprint Fest

It's festival season... well almost! I'm totally looking forward to Meredith I didn't go last year because I was OS but I reckon I've been going to MMF for the last 7 years, not bad jess, not bad.

We started this fest season with Blueprint - a brand spanking new fest on the scene held in an old volcano crater out near Ararat. And it was fun, unorganised and muddy, but fun because festivals are always fun. A great time to get a good dose of fresh air and negate any benefits that might have for you with all the booze that is drunk. And there was booze. Miss F introduced me to Bison Vodka, infused with Bison Grass, with Apple Juice - bloody beautiful, just may be my new fav drink apart from sidecars and cheap white wine!

Bands, oh yes, the bands, they were great! Bertie Blackman was pretty good, Gun Street Girls - awesome, Timmy Rogers always killer and Jebadiah - it must be hard being a band that lives off songs form 10 years ago - but oh how we sang.

Best of all has gotta be hanging out with mates and especially meeting the new ones and finding out their cool (nothing worse than being lumped with someones annoying friend all weekend - not so here, but sometimes I shudder to think that just may happen) oh and running into people you love and haven't seen in a while. Yep, those are my favorite festival things.

Now seeing it's Fesitval Season everyone should check out something at the Melbourne Fringe Festival. Something new and exciting. xx j.

windcheater - cool?

My first real upcycle - this was a horribly big and Nana windcheater, i took it in and put cute puffs in the sleeves and now it's wearable. Is it cool? I just can't tell whether it is acceptable to wear in the outside world. Maybe. Let me know what you think. Hmmm... But it's a nice yellow and boy-oh-boy is it comfy and warm!
Next up is curtain that I want to make into a jacket... oh yes, this is from the op shop and I am trying to be tricky and actually get into the refashioning side of things, I'm not very good at this yet so bear with me on these little experiments... maybe this one will be ok but I'll keep you posted. Finally, a UFO shirt from before I went OS, collar-less, cuff-less and button-less all those tedious tasks, but on the up side it looks like it will still fit me!
So I have some homework to do! xx j.

The Anchor Dress, the weekend and some art at Barber Bar

I had a loooooverly weekend. Went to Spotlight and picked up some $2 bargains. On thurs I brought a real 80s pattern from the Salvo's in Stawell for 50cents! Plus it was uncut, and now, I'm not very good at op-shopping but I thought it was a pretty good find...

... so I made a dress out of it. It was my first time doing a round yoke and I love it and wore it all weekend. But I have to stop making "preggo" dresses because my sister will start rumours soon! It goes perfect with my Canadian op-shop belt as well. Ohhhh, so thrifty.

I forgot to take photos of the lovely weekend because I was having such a lovely time -go the Pies! Yay for cafe breakfasts with lovely ladies! - But we did drop into Barber Bar on the way out of Melbs to check out their latest art. Very pretty indeed. They are going to have a few art exhibitions so go and check them out at 315 Victoria Street, North Melbourne.

Mr JPB was gorgeously tipsy for the way home and was getting beautifully mushy about the sunset I was driving into. Ahh... so cute

Off to Blueprint Music Fest this weekend... but for now... work. Back to work. xx j.

Weekends and introducing Lovely Miss A.

Friends are reading my blog, real, live, fleshy ones - hi friends! Lovely Miss A your garden is amazing, and yes I note the water gage on the corner, strawberry baskets on the side and the developing hot house for your tomato's and think that it is kick ass and so is Mr C for building it for you.

My weekend was spent mending, farmers marketing, bush strolling and watching the boys lose footy...

New jeans! ...well they'll keep for another few months at least...

(watch out Lovely Miss A, this snail could be your birthday present if you're not nice to me! heheh!)We went on a little bush stroll up Mt Zero in the drizzle, there are some lovely bursts of colour around.

'twas a loooverly weekend indeed. xx j.

The Small Object is so lovely xx

I go weak at the knees for cute stationary, different coloured post-it notes send me crazy. I just printed my own engagement party invites and thank-yous and were quite proud for making my own stationary, but I can tell ya, this girl does it far, far better and she's generously giving it to us for free download, I almost fainted with the cuteness! Thank you The Small Object!

Adorable! Watch out friends, snail mail coming your way

And another gem from her beautiful blog - mustache magnet. Hahah! love it, it's so cute!

The dress in non-drunken-phone photo...

It is with great sadness that this morning I found out that my beloved Weekend Designer has decided to wind up his blog. Nooooooo! And just when I was truly getting into the swing of things.
A massive thank you to Don for being an inspiration and so dang clever.

In light of that here are some photo of the Weekend Designer dress from the last post...so they are not the best photos in the world, but they are in true colour and they are not from my phone. And it was a great dress!

... well one phone photo and this one is just because I was sooooo proud of matching up my checks! ha!

Would love to know of any similar blogs to the Weekend Designer if anyone has any tips for me!

xx j.
